Accessibility

XHTML

HCOMS uses XHTML to layout websites. XHTML is the successor to HTML. As such, many consider XHTML to be the current version of HTML, but it is a separate, parallel recommendation; the W3C continues to recommend the use of XHTML 1.1, XHTML 1.0, and HTML 4.01 for web publishing.

HCOMS website design is written using XHTML Strict because this allows for greater control over the appearance and accessibility of pages within the variety of browsers and other devices that are available. For example accessible websites should be able to viewed within text-only browsers, mobile phones and Braille devices. By using XHTML Strict HCOMS can provide increased accessibility which has a direct affect on the search-engine position of your site, therefore increasing page views.
