Which language to use? ASP.net Or PHP?

This is a question which HCOMS have to ask for the majority of the website design projects that we undertake.
Each project is different and generally speaking there is no right or wrong answer. Some people will argue that PHP is better because it is an open source language and is not Microsoft. We at HCOMS however have used both languages. The way that we choose which language to use is dependent upon the requirements of each project. Some projects have to use ASP.net because the client may already have a host which they do not want to move away from. On other projects, the client's preference is for us to both host the website and to design the website.
