CMS
Content Management Systems, known as CMS, are web based software programs that are used to manage the text and image content of websites. Having a CMS website enables a business owner with no previous web design or HTML knowledge to add, edit or remove text, image content and pages. With a few simple clicks you can create a new page on your site, add text content (as easy as writing a word document) and import and edit images in just a few clicks. All our CMS websites come with a bespoke design created just for your on-line business using our robust code that is tried and tested on many browsers and sites every week. We have even included a "spell check" function. As web users are so used to having their work double checked by their email or word processors we thought it prudent to include this as a standard function!
Content Management Systems (CMS) why should I choose one?
It is vital to keep your website up-to-date in this fast moving on-line environment. Nobody likes being directed to a website which has content that is obviously out of date. By using a CMS website you will be able to make easy and instant changes to both the text and image content. Not only will you be able to make the changes instantly and publish them on the web, but you won't get charged for it! For too many years now people have had to pay large fees to website companies to have basic content updates uploaded. This should now be a thing of the past if you use a good CMS. The two most positive factors in this decision are increased speed of updates and reduced running costs, both of which are vitally important to any well managed business.
Content Management Systems (CMS)
As long as you have an Internet connection and a web browser you can have and use a CMS website.
You need have no previous web design or HTML skills to use an HCOMS CMS website. When your CMS website has been created you will be given a user name and password. Using these details you will log in to your CMS control area, and from here you will be able to:
-
Create new pages in the design of your website using the provided templates. You will, for example, have a "homepage" template and also an "internal" page template to choose from when creating new pages.
-
Once you create your new page you will be able to add text content just by typing as you would in a word document. To ensure the fonts that you use comply with the Internet, the CMS will have fixed styles set for you to chose from. You will be able to have a different text style for the titles, the main content and the sub titles. You can easily select these styles from a drop down once the text has been highlighted.
-
Once you are happy with the text content you can add images into your site. There is an easy-to-use image upload facility that enables you to select an image from your computer and move it into the image folder for your CMS website. Once this image is uploaded you will be able to insert it into the page of your choice and then set it to appear left, centre or right on the page. Don't worry if your images are not the correct size, we have included a facility to resize images within the images management area. You can resize the images in proportion to ensure they look perfect on your site.
-
Once you have added the text and image content to your site you may then want to tweak the text. Using the CMS you will be able to link text to other pages within your site, link to external sites and even link to word documents or pdf files. This will ensure that you can make your text as dynamic as possible and direct your site users to the most relevant pages in the fewest clicks.
-
When you are happy with all the content and design on your pages just "save" and then "publish" and it is as simple as that..
